June 3, 2024: The Paleo Lab recently returned from two weeks of fieldwork in the northern Gulf of Mexico, where we worked with folks from the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. We were able to collect some fantastic samples offshore Louisiana and Alabama, but unfortunately had to reschedule our offshore days in north Florida due to mechanical issues with the boat we work on; we are tentatively planning to sample in Florida in March 2025. April 21, 2024: Paul, Rebecca Metzler, and Jane Carskkadan ('24) spent a few days at the Advanced Light Source at Berkeley National Lab analyzing the microstructure of several mollusk species from the northern Gulf of Mexico.
March 13, 2024: We (Paul, Rebecca Metzler, and Damhnait McHugh) have been awarded a 2-year grant from the Picker Interdisciplinary Science Institute at Colgate University to investigate the impacts of climate change on calcifying marine animals through the integration of molecular, microstructural, and functional data. We are so excited to begin this work together! link

It was a fabulous meeting and wonderful to hear talks on a diverse array of topics and connect with new and old friends.
